Top Mels 3D LABS Designs

The Background Story : From a Homemade Music Studio to 3D printer RnD

Mel started DIY projects in 2018 with a Homemade Electric Guitar to kickstart Midnight Riptide, an online POP-ROCK-EDM band started by Mel and his internet friends. With 3 singles released worldwide, Mel wanted to step up into an instrumentalist from being a lyricist and composer. As high end instruments costs a fortune, Mel wanted to find an alternative which led him to start working on a Homemade Electric Guitar called Melocaster. Collecting reclaimed wood from old house and furniture and acquiring waste wood from nearby woodmill, Mel started building the 3D printer which was named as Meloprinter, later renamed to Melxlxtreme R1 which took more than 6 months of solid research to develop and upgrade. MEL THUNDER AMP The research on building homemade Amps lead Mel to develop a 100 watts Monster Amp called Mel Thunder Amp. 100% Designed by Mel, including the PCB, transformers, CAB, Preamp, Amp board, speaker protection, Power supply and the Mid Range speaker itself custom d...

3D Printed LED Bulbs

The idea was sparked as i was walking to the town, where i notice thrown away LED Bulbs polluting the grasslands. Later that day, Mels3D modified V020A2 Table lamp and made it into a prototype Bulb. The casing, Body is 3D printed with eco-friendle biodegradable PLA. RECYCLABILITY  The major disadvantage of the LED lights available in the market is that once it fails, its impossible to repair. Companies seal the body with strong adhesives and mount the PCB in a way that it cant be taken out without ripping off the wires. Hence the customers are forced to buy new. From a eco-friendly prespective, over time it creates a lot of E-Waste. An average household has about 10 LED, in which personally we had to replace or buy new 3 of them in the last 6 months. Over time the brightness of LED reduces, only if there was a way to replace those LEDs. The Bulbs we made consists of LED modules which can be replaced easily, solving the major problems mentioned above. LIGHT C...

HellFire : Dual Vertical Cartridge Hotend

Before making fun of my marker on the Heatblock, I was lazy Doing CNC branding. It was just for a demo pic.  Hellfire is named after the thought whether the not the heatblock will wreck hellfire. The concept behind is simple, that is heating the filament equally from both sides vertically while traditionally the heater catridge are placed horizontally. Hence achieving fast and constant filament melting and increased printing speed. CONFIGURATION It is wired paralled to existing heater port. The  feature can be enabled in  marlin by // control heater 0 and 1 in parallel. //define HEATERS_PARALLEL In config_adv #if ENABLED (HEATERS_PARALLEL) #DEFINE WRITE_HEATER_0(V) { WRITE_HEATER_0P(V); WRITE_HEATER_1(V); } #ELSE #DEFINE WRITE_HEATER_0_(V) WRITE_HEATER_0P(V) #ENDIF

Color Madness: 7 Color Mixing Extruder

VIBGYOR COLOR MODEL RGB contains of three channels (Red, Green, Blue) Each channel is an 8 bit number string. A bit can consist of 2 values, (0 or 1). where with 2 bits we can store 4 values (00, 01, 10,11)  where 8 bit can store 256 values  ie; 2^n = 2^8 =256 where 0 is considered a value, hence 256-1 = 255 now with 3 channels of 256 values (shades), we can get a maximum color shades of 16777216 shades of colors. ie; 256 * 256 * 256 = 16777216 color shades But the human eyes cannot differentiate or perceive most of the Colors, unless you are a tetrachromat, where you are able to see upto 100 million colors when the average human would see under 10 million. How many colors are in the world? It is infinite, but the colors an average humans can see is estimated around 5-10 millions, depending on person. A modern computer screen shows over 16 million hues of color to show a single image. There are LCD displays that can reproduce each RGB Channel in 10 bits giving 1....

Driver Extractor by Mels 3D

Mels 3D Driver extractor is the module which makes wiring an external driver to your mainboard simple. When you want to run your CNC or 3d printer with high powered steppers, You need external drivers like TB6560 or TB6600, running jumper wires through the motherboard can be quiet dangerous when they get loose, which can cause short circuit or disengage the external stepper drivers. All these problems can be solved with Mels 3D Driver extractor. The wires from the external drivers can be soldered directly to the driver extractor and then mounted to the motherboard hazzle free.

Chronos Kinematics: 7th Major 3D printing kinematics.

MELS 3D LABS KINEMATICS THE IDEA FOR MELS 3D LABS CHRONOS, A 4 AXIS 3D PRINTER KINEMATICS, WAS CONCIEVED ON EARLY 2021. DESIGNED IN 10/27/2022 AND DIAGRAMS PUBLISHED ON GITHUB ON 7/16/2023 CHRONOS USES INTERNAL RING GEAR FOR THE ARC AXIS MOVEMENTS OF X AND Y WITH A THETA AXIS FOR A TOOL HEAD. PUBLISHING THE KINEMATICS AS A PROOF OF PRIOR ART SEARCH AND TO PRESERVE THE CREDIT OF THE KINEMATICS. THE PRINTER CONSISTS OF AXES X Y Z THETA AXIS with a gear mechanism for radial movements. AS 3D Scanner Kinematics : The biggest advantage of chronos kinematics with a theta axis is that a physical model can be scanned perfectly from all sides and angles. Hence allowing a 3D printer to be a 3D scanner as well with a tool head swap. What is it? It is a new 3D printer kinematics that takes a different approach for advanced 3d printing with 4 axes than traditional 3 axiz. What are the benefits? • 3 axis printers lack vertical strength, Meanwhile a 4 axes printer can compensate this issue...
